The Film
Günter Rohrbach – Producer of the Original Version
Günter Rohrbach was Managing Director of the Bavaria Film GmbH for 15 years before he moved to Senator Film in 1994, where he still works to this day. Many German films of world-wide repute were made there during his time at Bavaria, for example, Rainer Werner Fassbinder's "Berlin Alexanderplatz“ (1980), Wolfgang Petersen DAS BOOT (1981) and "Die unendliche Geschichte"(1983), Helmut Dietl's "Schtonk!“ (1991), and Joseph Vilsmaier's "Stalingrad" (1992). With many of these films, Rohrbach also acted as producer or co-producer. Günter Rohrbach was born in 1928 in Neunkirchen an der Saar and studied German, philosophy and psychology in Bonn, Paris and Munich, as well as theatrical sciences in Cologne. He completed his doctorate and then began a career as a journalist in 1957 with the Bonner Generalanzeiger newspaper. Later on, he worked with Südwestfunk radio as a film critic, moving on to Westdeutschen Rundfunk in 1961, where he was soon appointed Head of Programming, TV Drama and Family Entertainment. In 1992 Günter Rohrbach was appointed Professor at the Munich College of Television and Film.
